How Equine Assisted Therapy works
Discover the path to inner peace and happiness through Equine Assisted Therapy. Find a welcoming space to explore your own inner strength and resources.
In this blog post, we will delve into the experiential, evidence based treatment, Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT), and how it assists with healing, self confidence, emotional regulation and empathy.
The process of EAT promotes developing a real relationship with the horse and have your emotions mirrored back to you. Horses sense your emotions and provide a gentle, safe place to explore your emotions.
The sessions are facilitated by a licensed therapist and an equine specialist. The team ensures emotional and physical safety throughout the session. The therapeutic process can be very powerful and assists with identifying areas where you are stuck or fearful about moving forward in your life. The work is ground based, no riding involved.
I also facilitate mindfulness meditation, conducted in small groups with the horses included. Participants are frequently able to access emotions and insights in a powerful yet gentle and supportive way.
